Set on the shores of Lake Mendota, this campus icon is Madison’s most popular back porch where crowds gather to enjoy food, music, sunsets, sailing, laughter and a quintessential Madison summer.
We’ve improved on perfection. Still serving Babcock ice cream, still offering Hoofers sailing experiences and a newly created outdoor kiosk serving food and cold beverages .
This project is being undertaken to update and expand the University of Wisconsin Memorial Union. It is a two phase project, starting first with the west wing, or theater wing, and then followed by the remainder of the building
It is difficult to articulate a “design concept” for a project that largely maintains an existing building. It is easier to state a goal: to preserve that which is historic and loved while making selective demolitions, additions and remodeling to better organize the building’s functions and to improve circulation, life safety and service functions necessary for the smooth operation of the facility.
