SILVER SPRING NEIGHBORHOOD CENTER/BROWNING ELEMENTARY SCHOOL

With the desire to create safe constructive places for children and a focal point for the community in the Westlawn Housing Development, this facility combines the renovated Silver Spring Neighborhood Center (SSNC) with the new Browning School, a Milwaukee Public School, grades K – 5.

Browning School is 58,500 square feet and the renovated SSNC is 49,000 square feet. The building functions as a single entity with the community utilizing the library, the gym, the cafeteria and art room after school hours. Also, a large green house is attached to the building for both school and community use.

Completed in 2002.
